Beginners and all ages Welcome! The benefits of Yoga include better posture, breathing, mental relaxation, and increased concentration. Slow and deliberate sitting, standing, and lying yogic exercises help you stretch both physically and mentally, opening up energy flow in all parts of your body.  No matter your level of fitness, you will benefit from the simple and accessible techniques of classical yoga which in this class will be geared your individual’s level of capacity.

Level: No prior yoga experience necessary.

INSTRUCTOR ROXANNE KAMAYANI GUPTA, PH. D.
Roxanne has been teaching yoga for more than 4 decades.  She began her studies in yoga, Indian classical dance, culture and philosophy under traditional masters in India during a year of independent study in India.  At the age of 20 she returned to become the first yoga teacher in Seneca County (1974).   She is the author of A Yoga of Indian Classical Dance (Inner Traditions:2000) and the founder of Surya Namaskar for World Peace (www.suryanamaskarforworldpeace.org) with advanced certification from Kaivalyadham, India’s oldest yoga teacher training institute in Lonavala, Maharasthra.

Anusara Yoga is a heart-oriented Hatha Yoga style that emphasizes good body alignment principles. The term, Anusara, means to be in flow with the Universe, following your heart. This Yoga practice can help with breathing, de-stressing, relaxation, alignment of the body, and increased flexibility and energy. Each Asana or Pose offers you an opportunity to more fully experience your internal self through the stillness of the physical body. The mindful, focused holding of each pose allows for the integration of body, breath, and mind, which more fully supports the flow of energy throughout the body. In this practice, you will be encouraged to respect your individual level of capability through a mindful, focused approach to each yoga pose. Regardless of your level of fitness, you can benefit from the accessible techniques of Anusara Yoga.

Level: Beginners Welcome. Please bring blankets and blocks if you have them.

WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
Your own yoga mat (and towel if you choose), sunscreen and water bottle. Wear layers that can be removed.  Please no loose shorts or short shorts, wear long pants or stretch shorts. Footwear required while walking on dock, removed for class.
